Wright-Hennepin is seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to support our Financial Services team and help ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. Compensation $83,500 – $115,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications) plus annual bonus potential

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of five to seven years of accounting or finance experience
  • Well versed in GAAP accounting
  • Budgeting and capital expenditure planning experience
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting/finance concepts and principles
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting and financial software

Nice To Haves

  • RUS and/or FERC accounting knowledge is a plus
  • Electric cooperative experience preferred
  • Wholly owned subsidiary or holding company knowledge preferred
  • Cash/debt management knowledge
  • Long range forecasting and projection skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including supporting reports, variance analysis, and narratives
  • Facilitate the development of annual budgets and ongoing forecasts, including detailed financial reporting and analysis
  • Own the preparation and submission of Form 7 and other required external regulatory filings
  • Contribute to month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare audit schedules and respond to audit requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Review expenditures to ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures
  • Research and apply accounting guidance to ensure compliance with current standards and best practices
  • Collaborate across departments to provide financial insights and support business needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes by leveraging technology and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain clear documentation of processes and procedures, including use of tools such as Scribe or other AI-supported solutions
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable and other accounting functions as needed
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
