About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team and support our SmartSign business operations in Brooklyn, NY. This role is responsible for key accounting functions, including month-end close, account reconciliations, accounts receivable management, tax compliance support, audit preparation, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP or related financial systems

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for the month-end close process as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Ensure intercompany balances are accurately confirmed and reconciled with other SmartSign businesses.
  • Assist in the preparation of information needed for the annual audit and tax return.
  • Manage daily accounts receivable activities, including reconciling customer payments and bank deposits, applying cash receipts accurately, investigating and resolving payment discrepancies, and processing refunds for duplicate or incorrect payments.
  • Respond to customer account inquiries and resolve account-related issues.
  • Review and approve tax exemption certificates.
  • Assist with sales and use tax reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Support tax-related audits and information requests.
  • Assist in preparing sales and gross margin analyses by customer and product line.
  • Support management reporting and ad hoc financial analysis requests.
  • Contribute to process improvements and special projects.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to support finance operations.
  • Provide backup support for AP and AR functions as needed to ensure continuity and accuracy of workflow.
