About The Position

As Senior Accountant, you will serve as a high-level financial and accounting resource to clients. You will direct and work with internal and external accounting staff performing financial reporting, financial analysis, grant management, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll processing, bank account reconciliation, general ledger maintenance, audits, and other accounting and finance related tasks. You may supervise a team of accountants and mentor less seasoned professionals to foster their individual growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in accounting/finance field.
  • Experience in school or non-profit fund accounting required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders and speak effectively before groups of constituents or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability and/or willingness to learn to use and understand Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, letters and other written communication to effectively communicate information with employees, administration and the Board.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall finance and accounting functions for clients.
  • Manage month end closing and financial statements analysis and reporting for clients.
  • Assist and oversee annual financial audits for clients.
  • Perform financial review, analysis, and reporting and assist with periodic State data reporting and submission.
  • Manage client’s budget preparation, amendment, and maintenance.
  • Assist with Federal and State grant funds management, accounting, and reporting – Title funds, Special grant funds, Children Nutrition Programs and Others.
  • Manage and maintain financial and accounting systems including general ledger maintenance.
  • Review payroll accounting and reconcile payroll liability accounts.
  • Assist with cash management, grants reporting, bond payment/reporting, and financial reporting.
  • Research, create, and implement accounting and finance policies and procedures in partnership with staff and clients.
  • Train and coach staff and client staff on all accounting and financial procedures, keeping up to date on all industry changes in compliance and standards.
  • Other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
