About The Position

The Senior Accountant will serve as a key contributor within the General Ledger Accounting team, owning accounting areas of moderate to high complexity with a high degree of independence. This role spans three primary areas of responsibility: OPEX GL accounting (60%), Grant Accounting (25%), and Inventory Support (15%). The Senior Accountant will drive process improvements, ensure compliance with US GAAP, support the monthly close process, and serve as a primary contact for auditors on assigned areas.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of related accounting experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a minimum of 3 years with a Master's degree; or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting software (NetSuite preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with complex reconciliations, allocations, and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation preferred; Big Four public accounting experience a plus.
  • Experience with grant accounting, cost tracking, and budget-vs-actual reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own multiple accounting areas — balance sheet and/or P&L accounts with moderate to high risk and complexity — ensuring compliance with US GAAP, with the ability to work with greater independence.
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and on time within monthly close deadlines.
  • Complete account reconciliations with thorough supporting documentation.
  • Prepare balance sheet and P&L flux analysis for owned areas, providing conclusions to functional and cross-functional partners and external parties.
  • Serve as the primary contact for auditor inquiries related to respective areas, including preparation of audit schedules.
  • Identify and drive process improvements within areas of involvement, whether through system enhancements, automation, or general process redesign.
  • Participate in projects in a supporting role, completing assigned tasks and contributing subject matter expertise as needed.
  • Own and execute OPEX close activities, including OPEX trend reviews, accruals, reclassifications, and allocations.
  • Manage AWS-related accounting, including prepaid amortization and accruals.
  • Execute operating expense, labor, and shared expense allocations across functional activities.
  • Serve as the backup point of contact for RSM on OPEX-related inquiries.
  • Manage grant invoicing, ensuring timely and accurate billing to funders.
  • Track grant costs and maintain supporting documentation for funded activities.
  • Prepare and maintain budget-vs-actual reporting for grant-funded programs.
  • Support inventory-related accounting workflows in coordination with the Inventory team, including accruals, reconciliations, and analysis, as needed.
