About The Position

The Senior Accountant is a senior role within the Global Finance team. The position will be responsible for global consolidations, and financial reporting, as well as assisting the Senior Director, Global Finance in fulfilling their mandate. The Senior Accountant provides a positive, can-do attitude and will ensure the highest level of integrity and compliance to all jurisdictional, regulatory and US, Canadian and International GAAP requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of financial accounting experience in a sizeable and complex corporation.
  • 2+ years experience with complex consolidations involving multiple currencies and ownership structures, including senior level review and financial statement preparation
  • US GAAP experience including complex accounting concepts and consolidation in a multiple currency environment
  • Experience preparing consolidations with COGNOS Controller or OneStream is strongly preferred
  • Experience with SOX requirements
  • Well-developed oral, written communication skills to convey complex issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Review data submitted by subsidiaries for reasonableness prior to inclusion in the consolidation
  • Preparation and review of regional sub consolidations
  • Preparation of a complex consolidation with multiple currencies, non-controlling interests and complex ownership structures
  • Preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure intercompany accounts are reconciled monthly
  • Build a business partner relationship with the regions in preparation of financial statements and supporting regional accounting
  • Assist with business analysis and projects as required.
  • Assist and liaises with business partners in the preparation of documentation associated with complex and non routine transactions
  • Conduct research into US, Canadian and International GAAP requirements
  • Prepare interim and year-end working papers for the consolidated Audit File and year-end financial statements.
  • Liaison and communication with auditors.
  • Ensure all financial statements fairly present the financial position of the corporation and all transactions have been recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Identify and implement process improvements with consideration to SOX compliance
  • Collect information and data related to newly acquired entities.
  • Utilize specific finance models to prepare Purchase equations for new acquisitions.
  • Preparation of the purchase price elimination for acquisitions globally when required.
  • Work in cooperation with the Corporate Taxation team in completing all relevant tax filings
