Job Summary Reporting directly to the Financial Controller of Infinity Métis Corp. ‘IMC’, the Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the annual budget production and revenue forecasting for the company. This role involves tracking and reviewing monthly forecasts, monitoring departmental budget execution, and ensuring compliance with financial operations. The Senior Accountant will engage with Joint Venture and Industry Partners, participating in stewardship meetings and maintaining continuous interactions. The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of IMC, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures. This permanent full-time salaried position is based on forty (40) hours weekly. Additional hours may be required.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business/Accounting from an accredited training institution is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a finance or accounting role is required.
  • Recognized Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence, along with a clean driver’s abstract is required.
  • Criminal Record Check is required.
  • Leadership and Management experience is required.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform effectively and maintain professionalism in high-pressure, complex environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to envision and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Proven analytical, planning, and organizing skills.
  • Results and people oriented but have sound judgment and the ability to balance other business considerations.
  • High energy level, ability to multitask, establish priorities, work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive.
  • Must be proficient will all Microsoft office suite applications.

Nice To Haves

  • A combination of relevant post-secondary education and experience may be considered.
  • CPA designation in progress will be considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Business Central is preferred.
  • Qualified status with the Métis Nation of Alberta or fluency in Dene Cree are preferred candidate traits.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Assisting with forecasting revenues from all revenue streams.
  • Tracking and reviewing monthly forecasts.
  • Overseeing budget development and monitoring departmental budget execution monthly.
  • Reviewing, approving and managing expenses and purchase orders in accordance with organizational policies and budgetary controls.
  • Reviewing and approving vendor and payroll payments.
  • Reviewing bank reconciliations for errors or omissions.
  • Attending stewardship meetings with Joint Venture Partners with designated IMC representatives.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller in continuous interactions with Joint Venture Partners and Industry Partners.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller in conducting analyses of Master Service Agreements (MSAs) for comparative evaluation.
  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Managing billing processes and ensuring accurate invoicing.
  • Participating in planning the objectives, methods and resources of short- and long-range financial operations of the company with the Financial Controller.
  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Preparing variances analysis for the financial operations of the company or assigned area to ensure compliance with budgets.
  • Providing for a system of management cost reports, including budget, budget variances, financial statements and projections.
  • Recommending benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations assisting the Financial Controller in controllership.
  • Calculating and issuing financial and operating metric reports, including Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Maintaining an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Calculating variances from the budget and reporting significant issues to management.
  • Adhering to local and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including GST remittance in conjunction with the Financial Controller.
  • Acting as superuser to all financially systems.
  • Maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Providing coverage to Accounts Receivable Payroll Administrator, and Accounts Payment Administrator as required.
  • Other related duties as required.
