We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Woodbury NY location. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strong financial analysis skills, and be team oriented. This is a fully on-site position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting along with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of organizational and follow up skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships across the organization
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Nice To Haves
- Experience in wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing preferred
- AS400 experience a plus
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and assist with the month-end and year-end closings
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports for management
- Review and audit expense reports
- Review commission calculations
- Prepare and distribute daily bank balances
- Prepare bank and other account reconciliations
- Review daily bank activity for accuracy
- Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns
- Assist with year-end audit requirements
- Assist with analyzing sales, inventory and gross profit variances and trends
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and budget versus actual variance analysis
- Periodically select cycle count audits
- Assist with additional analysis, tasks and special projects as needed
