About The Position

Our client, located in Mesquite, is looking for two Senior Accountant & Financial Analysts to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote per week). This role will require travel for the first 3-6 months to Kansas. The Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst is responsible for managing and overseeing general accounting operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the integrity of financial data. This role supports financial planning, analysis, and reporting, collaborating closely with the Controller to maintain compliance with regulations and support strategic financial goals. The Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst plays a key role in the month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciliations, and audits to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Accounting or Finance degree required
  • Strong Excel skills are required. At minimum, must be experienced with pivots and VLOOKUP. Any experience with SUM IF is a bonus.
  • Must be comfortable with full-cycle General Ledger Accounting.
  • GAAP knowledge is required.
  • Strong Financial Analysis skills are required, including analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or a related field, with experience in general ledger functions and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or Lawson) and Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Sage Intacct and/or Lawson is a bonus.
  • Transportation or warehouse industry is a bonus.
  • Start-up experience is helpful, as this is a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and monthly closing activities.
  • Oversee all aspects of accounts receivable and ensuring accuracy of all accounts receivable activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, intercompany general ledger accounts, and balance sheets.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by providing relevant financial data and analysis.
  • Assist in internal and external audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and answering audit queries.
  • Prepare tax filings, regulatory reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with special projects, such as system upgrades, implementations, and process optimizations.
