About The Position

The Senior Accountant ensures the City's financial integrity by overseeing complex accounting, financial analysis, and budget operations. This role ensures compliance with government standards, prepares financial reports, conducts audits, and provides fiscal analysis to support decision-making. As a key financial resource, the Senior Accountant leads projects, mentors staff, and collaborates with department heads to improve operations. Their expertise delivers accurate reporting, strategic budgeting, and effective management of special funds. This position performs advanced accounting and analysis, maintains financial records and systems, and supports operational and financial planning by reviewing, monitoring, and reconciling assigned accounts, programs, and activities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field; OR, equivalent related work experience.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, preferably in a City or governmental agency.
  • A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
