About The Position

Philly’s Best Steak Company is a leading Philadelphia-area meat processing facility and protein manufacturer specializing in the production of high-quality Philly-style steak products. The Senior Accountant plays a key support role within the Finance organization, responsible for reports to the Corporate Controller and works closely with the accounting and finance team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and recording journal entries, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, analyzing financial statements, recording cash activity and preparing bank reconciliations, and other special projects assigned. This role provides leadership with accurate financial insights while complying with GAAP and playing a key support role to external auditors. This position partners closely with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and IT.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
5–7 years of experience in Accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods, with occasional standing or walking as required.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with ERP (preferably Microsoft Dynamics or Business Central) and reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule, ensuring compliance with accounting policy and regulatory requirements.
Interacting regularly with operational leadership to ensure they have an understanding of the financial impacts of their operational decisions.
Own month-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
Create reports to track each department’s budget on a monthly basis.
Collaborate with the finance department to support financial operations and provide guidance on accounting matters. Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and assess financial performance, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to management for informed decision-making.
Financial and profitability analysis as needed or requested.
Support annual audit with Corporate Controller and CFO.
Assist in monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Assist management teams in annual forecasting.
Assist with annual and monthly budgets, forecasts, and reports, including profits/losses by business unit.
Track data and compile internal reports on assets, liabilities, and expenses.
Other relevant tasks as deemed necessary by the Corporate Controller.
