About The Position

The Sr Accountant provides comprehensive accounting support to a newly established division of independently operated sales agencies within a multi-location commercial play and recreation organization. This role ensures accurate day-to-day financial activity at the agency level, performs and reviews monthly reconciliations and intercompany reclassification entries, and partners closely with newly acquired agencies to integrate their financial processes into the corporate reporting structure. The position requires strong technical accounting skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capability to support multiple business units simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity, decentralized, or distribution-based environment.
  • Experience with intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and consolidations strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting post-acquisition integration or financial system onboarding is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Solid knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close processes and ownership of month-end activities.
  • Experience with intercompany reconciliations and multi-entity accounting structures.
  • ERP or financial system experience, including mapping accounts and supporting system transitions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data and reporting.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to support multiple agencies concurrently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with agency teams and cross-functional partners.
  • Proven analytical decision-making skills and sound financial management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily accounting support to multiple sales agencies, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Review and post agency-level accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, credit card transactions, expense reports, customer invoicing, bank activity, and journal entries.
  • Support agency financial workflows to ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, deposits, and payroll-related entries.
  • Partner with agency personnel to resolve discrepancies in billing, receipts, account coding, and month-end balances.
  • Prepare and record monthly reclassification entries between related entities, ensuring accurate allocation of shared revenue, commissions, payroll, and operating expenses.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and collaborate with other accounting teams to identify and resolve variances.
  • Perform detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned agencies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Serve as a key accounting resource for newly acquired agencies, supporting onboarding and transition to financial systems, policies, and reporting standards.
  • Map historical general ledger accounts to the corporate chart of accounts and assist with ERP system transitions.
  • Help implement standardized accounting, billing, inventory, and financial documentation procedures across new locations.
  • Train agency personnel on accounting policies, internal controls, and month-end processes to promote consistency and compliance.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by providing accurate documentation and clear explanations.
  • Assist with the development of standardized standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency across decentralized agencies.
  • Support budget and forecast cycles by providing timely and accurate financial data and insights.
  • Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned to support the needs of the organization.
