About The Position

Voya is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Accountant to join the Reinsurance Finance team. The position is responsible for reinsurance administration, accounting, and reporting. This role offers visibility across finance with opportunities to partner across internal teams and external reinsurers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, CPA preferred
  • At least 4 years of experience in reinsurance analysis, financial reporting and accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience working with admin systems and ledger data
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of AI tools used to support financial analysis, reporting, and productivity (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or similar AI‑driven platforms).

  • GAAP and Statutory reporting knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to balance quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Oracle or other complex ERP financial systems and Excel‑based financial reporting tools (e.g., Oracle Smart View or equivalent EPM/ERP add‑ins).
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) or similar financial analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Administering reinsurance agreements, accounting, and reporting.
  • Preparing and compiling reinsurance settlements using admin system and ledger data.
  • Analyzing reinsurance results.
  • Accounting and recording reinsurance activities.
  • Contributing to financial close cycles, including reviewing and analyzing reinsurance operating results.
  • Participating in onboarding new reinsurance treaties, including reviewing draft agreements, creating necessary reports, partnering with internal teams to finalize accounting conclusions, and operationalizing agreements.
  • Maintaining and configuring new agreements in the reinsurance system.
  • Interacting with reinsurers and third-party administrators to ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of reports received.
  • Delivering succinct and clear summarizations of analysis tailored to the needs of different customers.
  • Participating in internal and external audit testing.
  • Ensuring reinsurance processes, accounting, and reporting activities comply with SOX and audit standards, including maintaining effective controls and efficient operating processes.
  • Leveraging strong technical expertise to proactively identify, design, and implement process improvements.
  • Supporting other team members, including reviewing offshore work.
  • Managing multiple, often competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Working with large, complex Excel files and translating data into meaningful analysis.
