About The Position

The Senior Inventory Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's inventory accounting and financial reporting. This position leads key inventory accounting activities, including inventory reconciliations, reserve analysis, standard cost support, and inventory-related journal entries. The Senior Inventory Accountant partners closely with the Global Business Services (GBS) team, Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, and Finance to ensure inventory transactions are accurately recorded and comply with internal controls and US GAAP. Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on inventory or cost accounting.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, particularly inventory valuation and cost accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Global Business Services.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a publicly traded U.S. company preferred.
  • Big 4 public accounting experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, BlackLine, Hyperion, or similar ERP and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, manufacturing accounting, and inventory controls.
  • Experience managing intercompany inventory transactions and inventory movements across multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting SOX compliance, inventory audits, and internal control documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of inventory-related journal entries in accordance with company policies and US GAAP.
  • Lead monthly inventory account reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations to ensure inventory transactions, costing, and adjustments are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
  • Analyze inventory reserves, including Excess & Obsolete (E&O), inventory valuation, and other inventory-related estimates.
  • Support inventory cycle counts and physical inventories by reviewing variances, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Review and approve inventory-related documentation for internal and external audits, providing timely support for auditor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements, identifying opportunities to strengthen inventory accounting processes.
  • Analyze inventory trends, variances, and key performance indicators to provide actionable insights to management.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accounting efficiency, automation, and reporting accuracy.
