About The Position

The Sr. Accountant II will act as a business partner between operations and supply chain teams and the finance organization. They will use their industry specific knowledge in aircraft maintenance to drive processes and GAAP accounting that is pertinent to the financial health of the organization in achieving both short term and long-term financial plans, as well as new sourcing and other strategic cost savings initiatives. This role will act as a thought leader from an accounting perspective and will have a seat at the table with regards to fleet management and maintenance programs. Additionally, they will handle other ad hoc projects as needed for the accounting department and will be a lead in technical accounting areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Finance or Accounting; and approximately seven (7) or more years’ related experience and/or training.
  • CPA required
  • Experience in aircraft maintenance required
  • Experience in aviation industry required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
  • Demonstrates high critical thinking, reasoning skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to multi-task efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
  • Builds partnerships with related departments or functions to enhance efficiency and execution
  • Contributes to business sustained growth through functional expertise
  • Initiates, participates, and evaluates implementation for functional programs across major business areas
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as an Accounting System
  • CPA license required

Responsibilities

  • Represent the accounting organization’s values and processes providing high quality support to leadership teams
  • Standard Accounting responsibilities including: Account Reconciliations preparation, Review of staff work, Monthly close responsibilities (accruals, variance analysis, journal entry prep), Ad hoc projects, Financial statement and footnote disclosure preparation work, Policy and process documentation
  • Help direct the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of accounting processes.
  • Interpret and recommends modification to existing policies and practices.
  • Provide financial support for new business opportunities.
  • Help in the assumptions and financial models in coordination with multiple functions
  • Accounting representative for fleet governance
  • Accounting representative for vendor reviews/scorecards
  • Accounting support for RFP creation (if applicable)
  • Help direct accounting and operational due diligence for all proposed DMC business cases
  • Lead the accounting and reporting for the AMS direct maintenance costs
  • Navigate multiple systems in the organization for accounting and reporting functions
  • Technical accounting memo preparation
  • Support the Company’s long-term financial plan.
  • Other duties as assigned
