About The Position

The Senior Accountant I supports the accounting and reporting of the Company by performing essential accounting tasks and supporting daily accounting operations. This role executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls. The Senior Accountant I analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency. They review and reconcile information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key to improving processes and implementing best practices. This role also assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines, and supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions. Additionally, the Senior Accountant I provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems
  • Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
  • Process improvement oriented
  • Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards.

  • Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Prepares various journals, account reconciliations, and monthly reports.
  • Supports monthly close and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal standards.
  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of results, including identification of key drivers versus plan, projection, and prior year.
  • Participates in special projects as requested.
