About The Position

Water.org is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing water and sanitation to the world by pioneering market-driven financial solutions to the global water crisis. This role is crucial for strengthening the financial foundation that enables sustainable, life-changing access to safe water and sanitation. The Senior Accountant, Consolidations will be at the heart of the financial infrastructure, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of consolidated reporting across a global, multi-entity organization. Their technical expertise will directly support the financial clarity needed to scale Water.org's work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and/or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of balance sheet reconciliation and financial close processes.
  • Hands-on experience with intercompany transactions, consolidations, or multi-entity accounting environments.
  • Strong understanding of financial and tax reporting requirements.
  • Experience with accounting information systems and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
  • Impeccable integrity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across departments and time zones.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full monthly financial close cycle, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling key balance sheet accounts, and producing consolidated trial balances.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations and elimination entries across Water.org and its subsidiaries.
  • Perform weekly revenue reconciliations and coordinate with the Revenue Operations team on variances.
  • Manage bank matching and payment platform settlements across operating, money market, and investment accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for key balance sheet accounts and consolidation entries.
  • Respond to external audit requests and contribute to quarterly Audit Committee materials.
  • Serve as an active contributor to process improvement, SOP development, and chart of accounts maintenance.
