About The Position

BDO's Toronto office is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their expanding Assurance team, specializing in asset management. This role will focus on clients such as private equity firms, venture capital firms, hedge funds, mutual funds, and investment fund managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing audit engagements in line with IFRS and ASPE, handling complex audit tasks for multi-element engagements, building client relationships, and training junior staff.

Requirements

Completed CPA designation or in the process of completion
2-3 years of audit experience in the public accounting industry
Experience with ASPE files and a desire to work with high growth and dynamic private enterprises
Keen to develop further knowledge about the business, assurance and regulatory requirements of private businesses
Value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work
Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

Experience in asset management clients including private equity firms, venture capital firms, hedge funds, mutual funds and investment fund managers

Responsibilities

Perform audit engagements on a variety of asset management clients inline with IFRS and ASPE
Effectively and efficiently handle audit tasks for engagements with multiple elements (i.e. multiple funds) within a team environment, including risk assessment and planning, control testing, substantive audit testing including preparing working papers and analyzing complex accounting issues
Build positive working relationships with clients and handle all client deliverables and communications in an effective and professional manner
Effectively communicate with senior team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis
Engage in training staff and invest in the professional development of your team
