About The Position

Our Finance team is responsible for ensuring accurate financial operations and plays a crucial role in managing the Firm’s financial health. Our team handles a wide range of financial activities including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, partner compensation, payroll, treasury and cash flow management to support the Firm’s strategic goals. We are responsible for inventory management including billing and collections, and analysis of client, matter and timekeeper profitability. We oversee statutory accounting and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. The Finance team also prepares financial statements, reports and analysis to provide insights into the Firm’s financial performance. We work closely with other functions to monitor expenses, optimize financial processes and implement cost-saving initiatives. Through meticulous financial management and strategic planning, the Finance team ensures the Firm’s financial stability and supports its growth objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Economics, Accounting, or a related field, plus at least 5 years of professional experience as an Accountant, Revenue Tax Specialist, or any occupation, job title, position performing financial and practice management at a law firm.
  • 5 years of professional experience working in financial operations and systems, evolving from hands-on accounting (including A/P, A/R, payroll, and intercompany settlements), process optimization, and cross-border coordination across international law firm operations, as well as, translating operational pain points into system enhancements and global process improvements utilizing in depth knowledge and understanding of the functionality of common law firm ERP systems and jurisdictional accounting software including Elite 3E, IC, Emburse, and Xcelerate.
  • 5 years of professional experience performing statutory accounting and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions including configuring and maintaining financial systems to meet local accounting regulatory requirements.
  • 5 years of professional experience conducting complex accounting analysis and audit support including GL account reconciliations, payroll and expenditure reviews, and preparation of statutory audit schedules.
  • 5 years of professional experience working with tax authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and compliance including preparation of compliance submissions, transfer pricing reports, ownership disclosures and analysis to regulatory authorities, as well as, understanding complex tax structures.
  • 5 years of professional experience performing global finance transformation initiatives including transitioning accounting activities from local offices to centralized teams, guiding finance staff, and serving as a GL Finance Data Steward as well as partnering with internal systems teams and external consultants to deploy new ERP functionalities, develop specifications, conduct testing, and deliver training across global finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert and the go-to person for accounting policies, processes, procedures and concepts and financial system (3E).
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including SOPs, user guides, process maps and training materials.
  • Lead the transition of accounting activities from local offices to centralized global teams, ensuring knowledge transfer and process consistency.
  • Conduct statutory accounting and audit compliance activities, including maintaining local chart of accounts, tax codes, and regulatory documentation.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot complex process and system issues collaborating with Financial Operations and Financial Systems teams to resolve.
  • Partner with consultants and internal systems teams to implement new ERP functionalities, including specification development, testing, and training.
  • Perform monthly General Ledger Accounts ("GL") and payroll reconciliations as applicable.
  • Support firm-wide finance projects focused on process standardization and operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance to other departments on the capabilities and configuration of the 3E financial system.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives as required.
  • Serve as the GL Finance Data Steward, ensuring data integrity and consistency across systems.
  • Conduct training and provide ongoing support to Global finance teams across the firm.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses, including expenditure reviews and GL account reconciliations.
