About The Position

This role serves as the primary day-to-day contact for client requests within a book of business, which includes a mix of Mid-Market & Large/Complex accounts. With direction from the Account Executive, the Senior Account Manager prepares or delegates the preparation of renewal materials such as premium and loss summaries, exposures, coverage comparisons, and premium and rate information. The position requires owning meeting facilitation, client interactions, negotiations, technical analysis, and program design with minimal oversight. The role also supports new business acquisition and client onboarding. A key aspect is the ability to anticipate client problems and proactively provide solutions. The Senior Account Manager will create marketing submissions using the client workbook, manage carrier negotiations, and review quotes for accuracy and desired terms. They will also process policies, perform premium allocations, prepare surplus lines templates, manage Certificate of Insurance requests, conduct basic contract reviews, handle policy endorsements, resolve coverage and premium discrepancies, and conduct audits. Additionally, as needed, this role may involve team leadership, mentoring, and managing other Account Managers, ensuring quality control and contributing to department strategies and performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ yrs. applicable insurance experience with specialty experience preferred
  • Ability to work within AMS and maintain data completeness standards
  • Possesses strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, and lead special project assignments
  • Demonstrates ability to build underwriter and client relationships
  • Ability to delegate to appropriate parties when necessary
  • Experience with MS Office products required (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal

  • Holds or is pursuing formal specialty designation [ARM, CPCU, Industry specific designation] preferred
  • Some travel required (up to 30% depending on book of business & industry)

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the day-to-day contact for all client requests within a book of business (comprised of a mix of Mid-Market & Large/Complex accounts) and with direction from the Account Executive, prepares (or delegates where applicable) all relevant renewal materials (Premium & Loss summary, exposures, coverage comparison, premium & rate, etc.)
  • Owns meeting facilitation, client interactions, negotiations, technical analysis, and program design with minimal oversight from AE
  • Supports in winning new business & supports AE with new client onboarding
  • Demonstrates ability to anticipate client problems and provide solutions proactively
  • Using the client workbook, and under the direction of the Account Executive, creates the marketing submission, and manages ongoing negotiations with carriers
  • Receives quotes, reviews for accuracy and desired coverages, terms, pricing from submission, generates and populates the proposal, and sends to Account Executive for completion/review
  • Receives policies, sends instructions to the applicable COE, and keeps COE abreast of any changes that occur during negotiations with ability to process the policy if needed
  • Performs premium allocations, surplus lines template preparation, Certificate of Insurance request template preparation & master approval, on-demand certificates, basic contract reviews, policy endorsements, resolves coverage and premium discrepancy issues, and conducts audits on expired and/or non-renewed policies
  • As needed, serves as a team lead, mentor, and/or manager for other Account Managers within the department. This includes ensuring quality control standards of the team are continually maintained and works with the Commercial Lines Leader regarding department strategies, needs, and performance
