About The Position

The Global UX team at Target is seeking a Senior Accessibility Consultant to join their ranks. This role involves embedding with development, design, and product owner teams to create and improve world-class accessible digital experiences for Target's guests and team members. The consultant will apply internal accessibility procedures (based on WCAG 2.2) throughout all phases of web and app development, from discovery to regression testing. They will utilize assistive technologies to test experiences for accessibility gaps before launch, sometimes in collaboration with other accessibility team members. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge digital experiences and contribute to the future of accessibility, driving inclusivity for all Target customers and employees. The role requires empathy, knowledge of the lived experiences of people with disabilities, and the ability to leverage data and guest research to inform decisions. The consultant will help define objectives, push work forward with high standards, constructively challenge current thinking, and drive change for exceptional user-centric accessible experiences. The role emphasizes strong relationship-building, proactive change management, influencing skills in a matrixed environment, and supporting work-life balance through robust onboarding and development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success applying WCAG 2.2 AA to create accessible experiences.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead accessibility efforts throughout all phases of development, within projects and initiatives involving multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Experience performing accessibility testing of web and app experiences with assistive technology, including keyboards and screen readers.
  • Able to work well in a large organization with many partners, with a demonstrated track record of building deep relationships and influencing peers and leaders.
  • Comfort operating with flexibility in your approach in order to deliver results in a fast paced, constantly changing and highly ambiguous work environment.
  • Track record in using a strategic approach to solve complicated problems and strong collaboration skills in order to pull partners into your work process.
  • Communicate digital accessibility needs and solutions with grace, logic and data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical and analytical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or experience in working with UX Design, UX research, Software Engineering or Product Management is a plus.
