About The Position

Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Senior Academic Technology Systems Specialist in the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology that provides advanced expertise in instructional and multimedia technology systems design, integration, programming, and administration. The position serves as both a systems administrator for CTLT-managed instructional tools (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor, Turnitin, and Harmonize) and as the lead technologist overseeing classroom, lab, and event technology infrastructure across academic affairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Five years of professional experience with instructional technology, audiovisual systems, or related technical fields.
  • One year of experience with system administration, configuration, or integration of enterprise or instructional technology systems (such as learning management systems or other cloud-based tools).
  • Demonstrated experience with programming or scripting concepts, or the ability to learn programming for room control systems (e.g., Crestron, AMX, or similar platforms).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex AV, networking, and system integration issues in as evidenced by past responsibility for diagnosing or resolving technical problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical, associate, or bachelor’s degree in a related field such as instructional technology, information technology, electronics, computer science, or audiovisual engineering.
  • Experience installing, programming, and maintaining classroom and multimedia technology systems (e.g., AMX, Crestron, or similar platforms).
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as Crestron Certified Programmer, AMX ACE, Biamp Tesira, VMware VCP, or Microsoft/Azure certifications.
  • Experience working in higher education or another environment involving instructional technology and faculty support.
  • Experience integrating enterprise systems (e.g., LMS and SIS connections) or supporting API-based tools and LTI integrations.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or project coordination for audiovisual or instructional technology initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and support CTLT-managed academic technology systems, including Canvas, Zoom, Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor, Turnitin, and Harmonize.
  • Manage the archiving of Canvas courses and ensure compliance with institutional data retention policies.
  • Keep current with system-wide settings, feature updates, and new releases in Canvas to ensure optimal configuration and performance.
  • Set up, test, and maintain Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integrations and other third-party instructional technology tools within Canvas.
  • Collaborate with IT Services on system integrations, including future student information system (SIS) connections and authentication processes.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Instructional Design team to support course development, testing, and tool evaluation.
  • Design, program, install, and maintain classroom audiovisual control systems (AMX, Crestron, BiAmp, and related devices).
  • Configure and integrate projectors, displays, cameras, microphones, amplifiers, lighting, and audio DSP systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair audiovisual and control system issues to minimize downtime and maintain instructional continuity.
  • Maintain documentation of classroom technology configurations, software versions, and service logs.
  • Provide technical leadership and project coordination for the Electronics Technician, ensuring consistent design standards, installation methods, and maintenance practices across learning spaces.
  • Install and maintain multimedia systems in classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and other instructional spaces
  • Program and configure networked AV equipment with static IP addresses and verify functionality within university systems.
  • Assist with physical installations of televisions, projectors, control panels, and related hardware.
  • Provide field support for special events and high-priority campus technology projects as assigned.
  • Provide technical assistance to faculty, staff, and administrators with the use of classroom and multimedia technologies.
  • Support the Instructional Design team with testing and troubleshooting of instructional technology tools used in teaching and learning.
  • Respond to requests for classroom technology support and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with end users to ensure consistent and reliable technology experiences across learning environments.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned in support of CTLT operations and university academic technology initiatives.
