About The Position

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering seeks a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Academic Personnel Specialist to provide expert-level operational leadership and support for academic personnel actions across the schools, in close partnership with the Faculty Administration team within the Dean’s Office. Housed in the Engineering Dean’s Office, this position serves as a central point of coordination to ensure alignment, accountability, and process excellence across academic personnel actions. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Academic Personnel, this role oversees the work of academic units in managing complex personnel actions for Faculty and Academic Professionals, including probationary reviews, promotion and tenure, sabbatical reviews, career-track promotions, multi-year reviews, and annual performance evaluations. This position works collaboratively to ensure efficiency, compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement across all academic personnel actions. The successful candidate will: Demonstrate exceptional ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse community of administrators and staff. Have a high essential level of discretion, as this role routinely handles confidential and sensitive information. Possess deep knowledge of academic and university policies and procedures, along with the ability to identify best practices and implement process enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage and coordinate complex academic personnel actions at the college level, ensuring timely progression through all required review stages.
  • Review and evaluate personnel cases for completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to submission to the Dean’s Office or Provost’s Office.
  • Apply and operationalize university, college, and governance policies to support consistent and compliant personnel processes.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between academic units and the Faculty Administration team, facilitating clear communication and resolving process-re lated questions.
  • Monitor timelines and workflow progress across multiple concurrent review cy cles, identifying risks and ensuring adherence to established deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, tracking systems, and process resources that support standardized and efficient operations across schools.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive personnel matters.
