About The Position

Raytheon is hiring a Semiconductor Equipment Support Engineer to support and advance our wafer-fab manufacturing capabilities with a strong focus on Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and nitride dielectric process equipment. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a Hands on, high-mix, high-reliability manufacturing environment and is motivated by solving complex equipment and process challenges that directly impact mission-critical hardware. This is the first shift opportunity on a 9/80 schedule with hours from 6-330 Monday through Thursday and every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting and/or repairing semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with SEMI 10 semiconductor standards
  • Read and understand equipment manuals and schematics
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of SPC controls with the ability to implement SPC control plans on existing equipment and new equipment installations
  • Able to document work and provide detailed pass downs.
  • Able to document relevant work instructions for preventative maintenance program.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance and SPC controls using FDC software
  • Related experience as a hand-on Equipment Maintenance Technician/ Engineer maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing semiconductor manufacturing equipment or military equipment
  • Self-starter able to work independently as well as work in groups while leading a team
  • Ability to pull and analyze tool data
  • Proficient use of MS Office products
  • Knowledge of thin-film metrology (ellipsometry, XRR, TEM, XPS, FTIR).
  • Background in high-reliability aerospace or defense semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience implementing tool upgrades, retrofits, and continuous-improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to indirectly lead multidisciplinary problem-solving teams experience in semiconductor equipment engineering, with hands-on experience in ALD and or Nitride systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex vacuum, plasma, thermal, and control-system subsystems.
  • Familiarity with SPC, FDC, and data-driven equipment monitoring tools.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and support a dynamic production setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary equipment owner for ALD and nitride dielectric deposition tools, including uptime, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and optimize ALD/nitride processes for thin-film uniformity, repeatability, step coverage, defect reduction, and device reliability.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for tool performance issues, process drift, and cross-module interactions.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, and Quality to ensure stable production performance and rapid issue resolution.
  • Work with equipment vendors on upgrades, maintenance strategies, and installation of new hardware or capabilities.
  • Generate preventative maintenance plans, equipment health monitoring metrics, and tool documentation.
  • Support factory capacity planning, cycle-time reduction initiatives, and yield improvements.
  • Execute experiments using DOE methodology and provide clear data analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure all equipment meets safety, facilities, and compliance requirements
