About The Position

The Self Storage Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the facility is clean, safe, secure, and well-maintained. This role focuses on hands-on technical work, property upkeep, and supporting the operational needs of the storage facility. The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining curb appeal, addressing repair needs, and providing a positive environment for customers and staff.

Requirements

  • Willingness to work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds
  • 2-3 years of general maintenance experience
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Willing to work in all outdoor conditions/elements – rain, heat etc.
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills
  • Must have a flexible schedule with weekend availability
  • Ability to solve problems involving: equipment/ maintenance issues, emergency situations, etc.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds is required
  • Valid driver's license and clean background required

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and minor HVAC work.
  • Complete work orders promptly and ensure repairs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the property, including landscaping, trash removal, and snow/ice removal as needed.
  • Conduct daily property walks to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and security concerns.
  • Assist with pest control measures and ensure all areas are safe and well-kept.
  • Perform regular inspections of units, gates, lighting, security systems, and other facility equipment.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules to extend the life of equipment and property assets.
  • Report recurring or major issues to the Maintenance Manager or Facility Manager.
  • Clean, repair, and prepare units for new rentals to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Replace or repair doors, latches, and other unit components as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating vendor services and monitor work for quality completion.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment, reporting low stock or replacement needs.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and use protective equipment as required.
  • Adhere to OSHA guidelines and local safety regulations.
  • Document maintenance activities and keep accurate records of completed work.
