About The Position
Our team is seeking a Special Education Teacher for an Illinois school setting serving approximately 10 students with diverse learning and developmental needs. Most students on this caseload have autism, including some who require more intensive support. This position is ideal for an educator who can create a consistent classroom routine, adapt instruction, and promote student growth in a structured environment.
Requirements
- Active Illinois PEL with the appropriate Special Education endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong organization skills.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Strong collaboration skills.

- Experience working with students with autism.

- Experience in a self-contained setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver instruction tailored to students’ individual abilities, educational goals, and IEPs.
- Support academic, behavioral, communication, and functional skills.
- Apply positive behavior strategies.
- Maintain a safe, organized learning environment.
- Document student progress.
- Contribute to IEP meetings and planning.
- Coordinate with families, paraprofessionals, and related-service professionals to ensure consistent student support.
