About The Position

This job involves sitting at a visual station, standing at a hand packing station, or working in our repack area which involves visually examining bottles and discarding defective ones. It may also involve standing at a lehr to visually inspect bottles. If an employee has to pick up a case of bottles, the approximate weight ranges from 8lbs to 15lbs. Individual bottles that an employee picks up have an average weight from 8oz to 14oz. This job does include some sweeping, and unjamming of lines. During the course of an eight-hour shift, a Selector-Packer will be stepping onto and off of platforms throughout the shift. Employees rotate with other employees approximately every twenty minutes. These platforms do not have handrails and are one-level standard height platforms. Also, Selector-Packers may have to go up and down stairs, with handrails, to cross over single line conveyors.

Requirements

  • Ability to visually examine bottles.
  • Ability to stand at a hand packing station.
  • Ability to lift cases of bottles weighing 8lbs to 15lbs.
  • Ability to lift individual bottles weighing 8oz to 14oz.
  • Ability to sweep.
  • Ability to unjam lines or equipment.
  • Ability to step onto and off of platforms without handrails.
  • Ability to go up and down stairs with handrails.
  • Ability to rotate approximately every twenty minutes.

Responsibilities

  • Visually examines bottles to ensure proper specifications (performed sitting down at a light station).
  • Drops defective ware down a cullet chute at the visual light station.
  • Hand packs bottles into a carton, which involves standing at a hand pack station and reaching for and picking up two to four bottles from the packing table, then placing the bottles into a customer carton.
  • Supplies empty cartons to the carton conveyor that runs into the case packer or hand pack station.
  • Unjams bottle lines or equipment.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices, including routine cleanup of the work area.
