About The Position

Select Underwriter is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, evaluating, quoting, and declining Quick Quote and Non Quick Quote business. Select Underwriter is responsible for performing follow-up on QQ quotes. Foster the growth of our carrier and broker relationships. Responsible for maintaining a professional relationship with fellow colleagues and piers while supporting the Workers’ Compensation Division as well as all departments that interact with Underwriting.

Requirements

  • Review, analyze, evaluate, quote, and decline Quick Quote and Non Quick Quote business.
  • Perform follow-up on QQ quotes.
  • Foster the growth of carrier and broker relationships.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with fellow colleagues and piers.
  • Support the Workers’ Compensation Division as well as all departments that interact with Underwriting.
  • Review, analyze, underwrite, quote, bind & endorse within established premium range for new business <25K & Renewal business <$50K.
  • Quote follow-up on QQ new business and renewals.
  • Review, analyze, underwrite, quote, bind & endorse renewal business only <$25K.
  • Maintain and manage relations with AGIA producers.
  • Build and maintain favorable carrier relationships.
  • Perform field visits to assigned agency base.
  • Meet deadlines and goals set forth by management.
  • Adhere to Arrowhead General Insurance Agency Service Standards.
  • Understand and adhere to carrier guidelines including systems & processes.
  • Input data in risk evaluations.
  • Use sound independent underwriting judgement and discretion to properly evaluate risk and price to the compliance of underwriting guidelines, for new & renewal business within established underwriting authority.
  • Send Non-Renewal or Conditional Non-Renewal Notification when applicable.
  • Request additional information from brokers as needed to underwrite new business.
  • Communicate with brokers on status of quote and other issues of concern.
  • Process bind confirmation documents, assign policy numbers, order loss control when applicable, complete file organization for issuance as needed.
  • Process declines and close outs as needed.
  • Complete cancel/rewrite policies in accordance with carrier guidelines and company procedures.
  • Responsible for carrier clearance as required by program.
  • Assist underwriters and brokers with various tasks or requests as needed.
  • Meet deadlines set forth by management and/or underwriters within team.
  • Held accountable for meeting production, retention, hit ratio and profitability goals set forth by management.
  • Successfully pass internal and carrier file audit reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, underwrite, quote, bind & endorse within established premium range for new business <25K & Renewal business <$50K.
  • Quote follow-up on QQ new business and renewals on a weekly basis, organized by an automated report based on agency assignments. Document feedback in Employee Tools.
  • Review, analyze, underwrite, quote, bind & endorse renewal business only <$25K.
  • Maintain and manage relations with AGIA producers, through e-mail, telephone or in person meetings.
  • Build and maintain favorable carrier relationships over the phone, e-mail and personal interaction.
  • Perform field visits to assigned agency base to foster relationships and provide information and education regarding our various programs and appetites.
  • Meet deadlines and goals set forth by management.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with fellow colleagues and piers while supporting the Workers’ Compensation Division as well as all departments that interact with Underwriting.
  • Adhere to Arrowhead General Insurance Agency Service Standards.
  • Understand and adhere to carrier guidelines including systems & processes.
  • Input data in risk evaluations – updates to previously prepared evals or rush submissions may need all required data entered. Rushes may also require ordering Compline, Experian Report, Contractor’s License & Website information.
  • Use sound independent underwriting judgement and discretion to properly evaluate risk and price to the compliance of underwriting guidelines, for new & renewal business within established underwriting authority.
  • Send Non-Renewal or Conditional Non-Renewal Notification when applicable.
