About The Position

As a Seismic Imaging Technology intern at bp, you will collaborate with leading scientists on cutting-edge geophysical research and development. Your work will span advanced seismic acquisition techniques, imaging, data processing, and reservoir characterization. You’ll apply your expertise in digital signal processing, wave propagation, numerical simulation, inverse theory, and digital science to address complex subsurface challenges across exploration, production, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and low-carbon energy initiatives. Interns are expected to be proficient in modern programming languages and computing platforms and will implement and execute algorithms within bp’s High Performance Computing Center. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a PhD degree in Geophysics, engineering or applied sciences are preferred.
  • Must have cumulative and major GPA of 3.2 or higher.
  • Must be in final year, graduating from December 2026 through May 2027 or graduated in the last 3 years.
  • Must be available to start on agreed upon global programme start dates (January 19, 2027 or June 21, 2027).
  • Proficient in modern programming languages and computing platforms.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
