Job Purpose Reporting to the Global Vice President, Finance Specialty and Engineering, the PPS Segment Controller is the senior controllership leader for Precision Power Systems (Specialty or “PPS”), responsible for segment-level financial stewardship, accounting integrity, and government accounting compliance execution across a multi-site, international organization spanning three sub-segments. The role owns segment controllership standards and helps ensure accurate, timely, and supportable financial results; disciplined close and balance sheet processes; and consistent, audit-ready accounting practices across all PPS operating entities. In partnership with Government Contracts & Compliance, the role leads FAR and CAS accounting interpretation and execution implications while strengthening control discipline, accounting consistency, and organizational capability across the segment. This role operates above site controllers in a high-influence environment, serves as an administrative partner to PPS leadership, and partners closely with Corporate Accounting, Government Contracts & Compliance, and the Sr Director, PPS FP&A & Strategic Finance. Key partners: Government Contracts & Compliance, Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, Sr Director of PPS FP&A & Strategic Finance, site controllers, local GM leadership, and PPS segment leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Significant controllership experience in complex manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and/or government contracting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP required; FAR and CAS where applicable
  • Demonstrated success leading across multiple sites and entities in a matrixed organization, including the ability to drive standards, accountability, and alignment through influence.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, ERP implementations, integrations, audit remediation, and finance process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders, site finance teams, and cross-functional partners.
  • U.S. Citizen required; ITAR constraints apply.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior controllership leader for PPS, establishing segment accounting standards, governance, and expectations across a multi-site, international organization with three sub-segments.
  • Lead FAR/CAS accounting interpretation and execution implications in partnership with Government Contracts & Compliance, and drive audit readiness, response execution, and remediation.
  • Ensure consistent accounting execution across PPS entities in compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP, and EnerSys policies through influence over site controllers and local leadership.
  • Strengthen close, reporting, balance sheet, and control discipline across PPS entities, including oversight of significant accounting judgments, accruals, reserves, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
  • Build organizational capability by reinforcing accounting quality standards, standard work, coaching, training, and development of accounting staff and site finance leaders.
  • Oversee consolidation of actual results into segment management reporting views in partnership with FP&A and Corporate Accounting.
  • Lead controllership and compliance support for segment and company initiatives, including acquisition integrations, ERP implementations, and operating compliance projects.
  • Serve as an administrative partner to PPS leadership by driving accountability, governance, and follow-through on key segment initiatives, priorities, and cross-functional actions.
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to assess the accounting, control, and compliance implications of business decisions and support cost reduction and process improvement efforts tied to cost accounting, compliance, and controls.
  • Provide interim leadership and support across PPS entities to address resource gaps, stabilize operations, and ensure continuity during periods of transition or turnover.
  • Identify, escalate, and help resolve significant accounting, compliance, and controllership issues across PPS entities in coordination with segment and corporate leadership.
