About The Position

The Seed & Crop Protection Manager leads the crop protection and seed portfolios across locations, reporting to the Ag Division Manager. This role is responsible for pricing, procurement, inventory strategy, and supplier relationships to drive sales, improve market competitiveness, and maximize margin and rebate opportunities. The position ensures alignment between inventory, procurement, and customer demand, and collaborates closely with all leaders within the Ag Division.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in Ag, Ag Business, Business or related fields.
  • 5+ Years’ experience in agriculture inputs, crop protection or seed business; strong background in sales, pricing, procurement, category management and experience working with supplier programs, rebates and inventory management.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, advanced excel/data analysis capability is considered an asset.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support execution of crop protection and seed sales plans across retail locations.
  • Work with Sales and Retail Managers to drive program adoption and customer-focused execution.
  • Monitor sales performance, market trends, and location results to identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Provide product, pricing, and program guidance to support sales effectiveness.
  • Set and maintain competitive pricing strategies for crop protection and seed products.
  • Monitor market pricing, competitor activity, and supplier program changes.
  • Track rebates, claims, accruals, and program performance to maximize margin opportunities.
  • Analyze margin performance and recommend adjustments to improve financial results.
  • Develop procurement plans that support sales forecasts, inventory needs, and customer demand.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships to support product availability and program alignment.
  • Negotiate and monitor best net costing, supplier terms, and contract requirements.
  • Ensure purchasing activity aligns with supplier programs, commitments, and compliance expectations.
  • Review sales history, seasonal demand, and market trends to forecast product needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels across locations to support availability and reduce excess stock.
  • Recommend transfers, replenishment, or purchasing adjustments based on demand and turns.
  • Partner with retail teams to align inventory planning with sales activity and customer requirements.
  • Support crop nutrition inventory and demand planning as required by the Division Manager, Ag.
  • Support budget planning and financial tracking for crop protection and seed portfolios.
  • Monitor KPIs including margin improvement, purchase savings, inventory turns, supplier rebates, and contract compliance.
  • Review invoices, credits, accruals, and claims to support accuracy and timely resolution.
  • Prepare reporting and analysis to support business decisions and leadership visibility.
  • Support the development and rollout of supplier, seasonal, and local marketing programs.
  • Coordinate with sales and retail teams to ensure promotions are communicated and executed consistently.
  • Provide product and program information to support customer-facing activities.
  • Monitor promotion results and provide feedback to improve future program execution.
  • Assist with coordination of product movement, availability, and timing across retail locations.
  • Work with suppliers, retail teams, and operations to resolve supply or delivery challenges.
  • Support communication of product shortages, substitutions, and allocation decisions.
  • Identify operational issues that may impact service, inventory, or program execution and recommend solutions.
