About The Position

The Security position provides day-to-day security coverage for the Batesville campus and helps create a safe and inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests. The role reports directly to the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness (PSEP) Campus Lead and may include evening hours.

The position conducts vehicle and foot patrols; responds to and investigates reported incidents and emergencies; prepares incident reports and related forms; and supports campus safety through escorts, building access procedures, and maintenance of life-safety equipment. The role also serves as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Act. Duties must be performed in accordance with FERPA, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Adept at resolving individual and group conflicts.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to partner effectively with colleagues inside and outside the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide campus security coverage through vehicle and foot patrols.
• Respond to and investigate reported incidents, including thefts, campus vehicle accidents, property issues, medical emergencies, fires, safety hazards, and fire or security alarms.
• Assist with or lead responses to campus emergencies.
• Complete written incident reports and other forms related to public safety duties.
• Uphold and maintain Campus PSEP staff standards.
• Use CCTV, access control, and incident reporting systems.
• Assist in maintaining campus life-safety equipment.
• Provide safety escorts for students, faculty, staff, and guests as needed.
• Lock and unlock doors as necessary and complete building opening and closing procedures.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Act.
• Support a safe, inclusive campus environment and student success through positive customer service and student advocacy.
