About The Position

This part-time Security position involves standing guard during events, touring the post periodically to ensure safety, handling disturbances, monitoring surveillance equipment, and responding to emergencies. The role requires effective communication, report writing, and maintaining professional relationships with various stakeholders. Responsibilities include operating the Command Center, utilizing CCTV and Access Control systems, and ensuring a neat, professional appearance. The position also involves customer service and upholding business ethics.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to prepare, maintain and analyze records.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others; analytical skills; decision making skills; effective written and verbal communication skills; presentation and listening skills; effective negotiation and mediation.
  • Ability to handle conflicts, make common sense decisions and exercise proper action during high tension and stress.
  • Knowledge of security and safety guidelines, and of laws and regulations that affect security policies, procedures, rules, and operations.
  • Knowledge of security technology, CCTV, Door Access System, and security project implementation.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this position.
  • Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Stand guard during events.
  • Tour post periodically to ensure safety of patrons, staff, vendors, participants, and others on site.
  • Handle any disturbances or problems that arise during an event or at the facility.
  • Escort disruptive individual(s) to the security office and/or off the premises if necessary.
  • Write incident reports and meet with security supervisor to review.
  • Monitor all surveillance, access control, and radio equipment contained within the facility.
  • Prioritize situations and investigate/dispatch all safety and security-related incidents.
  • Follow-up on all incidents with written reports and recommendations.
  • Answer emergency, non-emergency and administrative phone lines and provide an appropriate response as required by the nature of the call.
  • Respond to emergencies and handle callouts.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently using handheld radio.
  • Inspect alarms and fire extinguishers/sprinkler systems to ascertain they are set to operate.
  • Inspect premises for signs of intrusion or tampering.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all entities who maintain business offices on property.
  • Tour facility, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
  • Assist with crowd control inside and outside of the facility.
  • Control unusual circumstances and events during fire, storms, riots, and other emergencies.
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations -- answer alarms and investigate.
  • Assist departments when handling large sums of high valued items.
  • Act in a professional manner with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered.
  • Document all shipping and keep a record of all keys, radios and other facility equipment that are assigned when necessary.
  • Operate Command Center at an efficient level.
  • Utilize CCTV and Access Control system to set door schedules based off building and Event needs.
  • Has a neat, professional appearance and comes to work in complete and clean assigned uniform.
  • Come to work on time and complete shift assignments (including overtime, if needed).
  • Be courteous, respectful, and responsive to the public, customers, and clients.
