Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles relating to electrical voltage and current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, as it relates to electrical low-voltage systems design for buildings.
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills.
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise.
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, related STEM field Engineering, or equivalent required.
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred.
  • 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path.
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems.
  • Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems design, calculations, and specifications.
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.
  • Provide technical training and mentoring.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in low-voltage technology (ICT) engineering.
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with low-voltage technology ICT systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.
  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews.
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines.
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner.
  • Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly.
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements.
  • Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction.
  • Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation.
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested.
  • Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns.
  • Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.
