About The Position

EastPointe Hospital is a private, free-standing psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescent males (ages 12 – 18) located in Daphne, Ala. EastPointe’s clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate adults and adolescents in psychiatric crisis. Treatment focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment. Adults and/or adolescents admitted to EastPointe will have exhibited life-threatening, destructive or disabling behavior or symptoms. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24-hour clinical care for the duration of their stay. The goal is for each patient to return to home or to the least restrictive level of care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass a physical agility test that includes running, push-ups, sit ups, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to crisis situations in the inpatient and residential settings, and implement proper Mindset interventions which may include the application of seclusion and restraints.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of all consumers, staff and visitors to the hospital or group homes.
  • Conduct perimeter checks both inside and outside the facilities as well as provide visitor control.
  • Conduct searches as directed and monitor for contraband.
  • Respond to crisis situations throughout facility and implements proper MindSet interventions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
  • Apply seclusion and restraint per AltaPointe Policy and Procedure.
  • Conduct consumer and room searches for contraband items per AltaPointe Policy and Procedure.
  • Conduct Environmental Rounds on a daily basis and documents accordingly.
  • Provide monitoring and interaction with consumers.
  • Prepare end of shift (EOS) report.
  • Perform hand-off communication at shift change.
  • Effectively collaborate with the treatment team members.
  • Actively participate in Security team meetings for performance improvement purposes.
  • Provide staff training to staff on crisis intervention as needed.
  • Model appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
  • Effectively demonstrate the application of adult specific competencies.
  • Routinely monitor cameras.
  • Maintain a presence within building and on units.
  • Inquire as to reason of visit when/if visitors appear to be “hanging around”.
  • Conduct routine walk through of units, outside and parking lots.
  • Effectively use wands and walkie talkies along with charging them when not in use.
  • Check out van and black bag, verify driver’s license, check vehicle and charge cells.
  • Provide backup support to front desk.
  • Notify management of issues that surface.
  • Provide back up support during visitations.
  • Provide security during legal proceedings.
  • Assist with on boarding new employees.
  • Seek supervision and consultation as needed.
  • Accept and employ suggestions for improvement.
  • Actively work to enhance skills.
  • Treat consumers with care, dignity and compassion.
  • Manage physically aggressive consumers in a manner which protects individual dignity, respect, and self-esteem.
  • Respect consumers’ privacy and confidentiality.
  • Be pleasant and cooperative with others.
  • Assist consumers and visitors as needed.
  • Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others.
  • Be sensitive to the consumers’ needs, expectations, and individual differences.

  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

  • Attend appropriate in-services training and other workshops.
