About The Position

The Security Team Leader oversees uniformed Security Officers operating in critical facilities with strict access controls and elevated security protocols. The Security Team Leader directs a highly trained security unit responsible for safeguarding personnel and securing the Bulk Electric System (BES) across the Southeast and assets of the company. This role supervises daily operations, including personnel scheduling, coordination, and performance oversight. The Security Team Leader ensures regulatory compliance, leads preliminary incident investigations, and oversees accurate documentation, video bookmarking, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in security (law enforcement, military, corporate security, etc.) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong, adaptive leadership skills and a proactive leadership mindset.

  • Significant, proven experience in criminal justice, corporate security, law enforcement, or military environments, with a history of successfully leading complex security operations and teams.
  • Ability to use and maintain firearms and pass annual firearms qualifications.
  • Exhibits outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels and with external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Leads in the development, implementation, and enforcement of site-specific security policies, procedures, and post orders.
  • Oversees the maintenance of electronic access control and surveillance equipment.
  • Oversees monitoring and responds to a variety of video surveillance, access control, and intrusion alarms.
  • Determine response requirements: Sets relative priorities of incidents/alarms, supervises recording of responses in the appropriate format, conduct preliminary PSP alarm investigations, supervises the writing of concise and accurate incident reports as necessary, immediately reports violations and oversees access control issues.
  • In accordance with established procedures, help coordinate situations with the Security Operations Center Supervisor, Generation Security Supervisor, NERC-Cip Security Op’s Manager and Chief Investigator.
  • Train officers on CCURE system functions, including profile creation, badge printing, compliance tracking, and report generation.
  • Maintains required internal certifications related to direct knowledge of NERC CIP Cyber Security Standards or others, as necessary.
  • Manages timekeeping for direct reports and oversees purchase orders, contract security administration, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with hazmat process owners in generation to develop, implement, and annually review the Hazardous Material Transportation Security Plan at generation locations.
  • Assists with annual audits related to physical security procedures cybersecurity, restricted access, and key log reviews.
  • Maintains relevant knowledge of policies, procedures, and strategies to promote compliance.
  • Conducts hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Coordinates delivery of security training for external contractors
  • Supervises annual security site surveys, and reporting.
  • Ensures random contractor drug screenings are documented in CCURE and facilitate quarterly employee screenings with third-party providers.
  • Reviews, measures, and reports KPIs upward to the departmental chain of command.
  • Supports development and updates of site Emergency Action Plans.
  • Function as the security liaison for sites without dedicated teams.
  • Manages and maintains site specific annual budget.
