About The Position

The Security Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise-level physical security systems, with a primary focus on Lenel S2 access control platforms. This role supports mission-critical infrastructure by ensuring the reliability, integrity, and performance of integrated security technologies including access control, video surveillance (CCTV/VMS), and intrusion detection systems. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in low-voltage systems, networked security applications, and system integration, and can operate both independently and collaboratively in dynamic commercial or industrial environments This position is responsible to provide ongoing maintenance, repair, and upgrades for physical security infrastructure, including badge readers, surveillance cameras, and locking hardware throughout assigned facilities

Requirements

  • Lenel S2 Certification (required) – demonstrated experience supporting and administering Lenel S2 systems
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in physical security systems, low-voltage electrical systems, or controls engineering
  • Strong experience with: Access control systems (Lenel, S2, or similar enterprise platforms)
  • Strong experience with: IP-based video surveillance systems (Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon, etc.)
  • Strong experience with: Low-voltage wiring, panel terminations, and field device installation
  • Proven ability to read and interpret: Electrical schematics
  • Proven ability to read and interpret: Wiring diagrams and control drawings
  • Proven ability to read and interpret: Network topology diagrams
  • Solid understanding of: TCP/IP networking fundamentals (IP addressing, switches, routing basics)
  • Solid understanding of: Industry standards and protocols (e.g., ONVIF, BACnet, Modbus)
  • Solid understanding of: National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant compliance requirements
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, cable testers, and network analyzers
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting distributed hardware systems and embedded controllers
  • Familiarity with Windows-based servers, databases, and security system software platforms

  • Experience supporting enterprise environments (corporate campuses, data centers, industrial facilities)
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices as applied to physical security systems
  • Manufacturer certifications in VMS or access control platforms (e.g., Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon)

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and support Lenel S2 access control systems, including database management, user provisioning, system upgrades, and patching
  • Program and troubleshoot access control hardware such as door controllers, badge readers, panels, relays, and power supplies
  • Design and implement system enhancements, expansions, and integrations with other enterprise platforms
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on low-voltage security systems (24V AC/DC), including access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems
  • Troubleshoot communication issues across TCP/IP-based systems, field devices, and controllers
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, system audits, and lifecycle upgrades to ensure optimal system performance
  • Maintain and support IP-based video surveillance systems (VMS), including camera configuration, firmware updates, and network connectivity
  • Ensure proper camera placement, field of view, and recording integrity
  • Support integrations between access control and video systems for event correlation and monitoring
  • Work with IT teams to configure VLANs, IP addressing, and network security for physical security devices
  • Integrate security systems with enterprise tools (e.g., Active Directory, identity management systems)
  • Utilize and support communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and ONVIF where applicable
  • Maintain accurate system documentation (as-builts, wiring diagrams, network topology, and configuration baselines)
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and site-specific safety and operational standards
  • Document incidents, service activities, and system changes in service management platforms
  • Provide on-call support and rapid response to system outages or security incidents
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors for escalations and project delivery
