About The Position

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking experienced Electronics Technicians with Security System expertise to join their team. This role involves supporting the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) by traveling to various locations to provide support for Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) at electrical substations, switchyards, and facilities across multiple states including Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming. The position requires candidates to be comfortable working independently or with a small team and adhering to strict installation guidelines and requirements.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a customer clearance (including local and national background check).
Current and valid Driver’s License.
2 years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and servicing Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Physical Access Control (PACS), Internet Protocol (IP) video surveillance systems and other security systems.
High School Diploma or equivalent; OR a graduate of military basic and advanced electronic or communication technician courses.
Experience as a technician with installation of electronics/electrical systems including, but not limited to: Intrusion Detection Systems, Access Control Systems, Closed Circuit Television, Security Cameras, Intercom Systems, Mass Notification Systems, Conduit Installation, Low Voltage Electrical Systems.
Ability to use basic test equipment and prepare site test data and documentation.
Ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment, be detailed oriented, and self-motivated.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently or under limited supervision.
Ability to install, test and troubleshoot Electronic and Technical Security System equipment, read schematics and maintenance manuals.
Working knowledge and familiarity of a multitude of systems including but not limited to: DoD and DoS Security Systems and requirements, Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems such as Lenel, Software House, Milestone, IP CCTV Surveillance Systems such as Milestone, Mechanical and electromechanical locking systems (electronic strikes, locks, mag’s, etc.).
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

Serve as an Electronics Technician on assigned projects, comfortable working independently or with a small team.
Work with federal agencies on the migration, upgrades, and installation of physical security infrastructure at various electrical substation facilities.
Install Electronic and Technical Security Systems to DoD and DoS specific guidelines and requirements.
Read, interpret, and draw electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics.
Use test equipment such as multimeters and cable testers (e.g., Fluke, Klein, Ideal).
Follow strict installation wiring guidelines and read and interpret building construction plans (blueprints).
Apply knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) requirements and practices such as grounding and electrical safety.
Perform maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of security wiring & power circuits.
