About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Security Support Engineer Lead to provide support to a Federal government contract. Due to the nature of the contract and customer, US Citizenship is required. This role involves management, development, and coaching of Cybersecurity System and Tool support staff, serving as a technical liaison, and providing engineering support, system administration, and software development for security operations tools/systems. The position requires planning, testing, and implementing upgrades, tuning systems, ensuring robust security controls, managing endpoint security agents, establishing operational metrics, and implementing central logging for SIEM. The role also includes after-hours on-call support, specialized training, adherence to change management, maintaining test environments, researching new technologies, performing health and performance monitoring with root cause analysis, and participating in special projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in network engineering, computer engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • 12+ years of combined technical experience in systems security solutions at the enterprise level.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Project management experience, capable of delegating and assigning tasks with the ability to manage through completion.
  • Ability to manage team/individual capacity to ensure team members are not overwhelmed while managing coverage of all tasks.
  • Strong technical hands-on experience in implementation and operation of systems security technologies.
  • One or more certifications in information security or networking.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse team of skilled cybersecurity professionals.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong Windows and Linux administration experience.
  • Active Directory and Group Policy management experience.
  • Experience with enterprise-level backup products.
  • Experience in integrating, configuring, and system administration of security tools.
  • AWS Cloud experience.
  • Experience deploying and managing SIEM products.

  • Experience with network monitoring tools.
  • Hands-on experience with VMWare.
  • Experience deploying and managing a SAN.
  • Federal government or federal contracting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management, development, and coaching of Cybersecurity System and Tool support staff.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between sub-organizations, project managers, and vendors/clients.
  • Provide engineering support, system administration, and software development for a variety of security operations tools/systems.
  • Plan, test, and implement upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.
  • Tune systems and tools to ensure high levels of system and infrastructure availability.
  • Ensure robust systems security controls architectures based on current security best practices and industry frameworks.
  • Manage/deploy and troubleshoot multiple endpoint security agent products.
  • Establish and maintain cybersecurity system and tools operational metrics.
  • Implement, manage, and proactively monitor central logging of feeds to enterprise SIEM for all systems and agents.
  • Deliver after-hours on-call emergency support of systems, tools, and agents to address mission-impacting issues.
  • Provide system and tool specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Ensure adherence to change management practices for systems and agents.
  • Deploy and maintain adequate development test capabilities/environments for systems and agents.
  • Research, identify, and implement proof of concepts for emerging and innovative technologies.
  • Perform health and performance monitoring of systems and agents, addressing all significant issues with thorough documented root cause analysis.
  • Update/create documentation for systems/tools as needed.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
