About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide supervision and leadership for security associates within the Loss Prevention and Safety – Support department and to ensure security policies, procedures, and initiatives are implemented and administered appropriately.

Requirements

  • Security officer and/or security clerk experience
  • Must be at least 20 years of age with a valid driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of Word, Access, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to withstand walking and standing for long periods of time
  • Excellent supervisory skills
  • Able to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended periods of time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to use a two-way radio
  • Able to work well with others and be a team member

  • Three (3) years security experience
  • One (1) year of general supervisory experience
  • Possess a Class "D" Security Officer's License or independently obtain a Class "D" Security Officer's License within 90 days of the hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Providing front-line supervision for a team of security associates
  • Supervising the supply chain security for all shipping and receiving operations
  • Identifying discrepant shipments and deliveries and notifying warehouse management
  • Ensuring that security officers process inbound foreign shipments where Publix is the importer of record and do so in accordance with procedures regulated by US Customs in its Customs – Trade Partners Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program
  • Responding to and assisting with burglar and fire alarms, natural disasters, environmental incidents, and other emergencies or interruptions of business operations
  • Evaluating and completing performance evaluations of security associates on an assigned shift
  • Determining and issuing proper discipline procedures of security associates on an assigned shift
  • Providing training and direction of security associates on an assigned shift
  • Protecting the company brand and assets through active and virtual patrolling
  • Completing preliminary incident investigations
  • Enforcing access control protocols by limiting access to only authorized and properly identified individuals
  • Enforcing procedural, operational, or technological protocols that are intended to comply with federally regulated standards where applicable, such as Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Security (CFATS) and Customs – Trade Partners Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) programs
  • Providing services to detect, delay, deter, and deny adversaries who would cause intentional damage to Publix branded product and the associated distribution or manufacturing facilities
  • Controlling items that associates or guests may bring into or out of the facility
  • Documenting activities that are of a safety, security, or inventory control concern
