About The Position

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum safety and security for students, staff, center property and the surrounding community. Serves as the center’s designated safety and occupational health officer. Ensures proper screening of staff, students, and visitors entering and exiting the site. Responsible for the Center Occupational Health and Safety program.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years work-related experience.
  • May require a Guard Card or ability to obtain a Guard Card per State requirements.
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques.
  • Knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA certificates.
  • Ability to effectively relate to trainee population.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to obtain state Security officer certification within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or closely related field.
  • Safety Certifications, law enforcement experience.
  • Extensive experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create and sustain positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.
  • Assist students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Ensure that student needs are met in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
  • Maintain confidentiality but report significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
  • Ensure equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance.
  • Enforce all laws, rules and regulations.
  • Enforce the Zero Tolerance Policy and report violations immediately to supervisor and/or duty officer.
  • Act as the Security supervisor on shift.
  • Patrol assigned areas and remain alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
  • Perform building security and safety checks and inspections.
  • Escort students as directed to dorms, security, may monitor students involved in discipline incidents, and transport students.
  • Investigate vehicular accidents at the center and complete vehicle accident reports.
  • Respond to any reports of disturbances, unauthorized visitors, medical emergencies, and may be asked to search and quickly locate students upon request.
  • Enforce center pass policy.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
