About The Position

This position is responsible for the shift supervision and monitoring of security personnel engaged in the duty of providing a secure environment. These duties include, but are not limited to, the daily operations of security, and assist in the coordination of the integrity and proper functioning of all physical security systems during their assigned shifts.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military discipline; or equivalent training which might include criminal justice, homeland security, or law enforcement academy.
  • Licensure/certification as required by state law.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • AHA BLS.

  • 3 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military discipline to include 2 years of supervisory experience or progressively increased responsibility around supervisory-type duties; or equivalent training which might include criminal justice, homeland security, or law enforcement academy to include 2 years of supervisory experience or progressively increased responsibility around supervisory-type duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the setup of weekly guard schedule; monitor assignment of overtime; initiate needed changes to cover unscheduled absences.
  • Supervise subordinates so they perform their functions effectively.
  • Evaluate and document subordinate�s performance.
  • Investigate campus security incidents; prepare appropriate reports and/or reviews and oversees corrections to subordinate�s incident reports.
  • Interpret applicable policies and procedures based on existing circumstances.
  • Watches for, and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility, and safety hazards, and emergencies.
  • Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators/ approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate.
  • Quickly identify potential negative situations, implements effective countermeasures, and adjust security posts/assignments as circumstances warrant.
  • Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned post.
  • Teaches facility-specific procedures and policies.
  • Responds to medical emergencies and fire alarms, and directs security personnel as needed.
  • Provides general information at roll calls.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations while implementing security measures.
  • Acts as Incident Commander until additional command resources arrive during a crisis.
  • Assists in conducting shift-based drills to ensure security personnel readiness.
  • Drills include, but are not limited to, de-escalation, CPI, NCI, physical techniques, use of force, active shooter, etc.
