About The Position

Barbier Security Group (BSG) is seeking a Campus Residential Security Shift Supervisor for a prestigious private university in Oakland. The role of Security Shift Supervisor will oversee the program of providing residence access controls through high visibility, deterrence, patrols, safety escorts, building checks, and community engagement. Shift Supervisors and their teams are expected to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors, promoting a safe and welcoming environment. The Supervisor and their team are responsible to be the primary responders to emergencies, monitoring security, communications, and fire/life safety systems, accurately documenting events, and enforcing campus residential rules. The Supervisor reports to the Account Manager and is the liaison between campus personnel, students, law enforcement, and BSG management. Shift Supervisors ensure all shifts are staffed 24/7. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong attention to detail, and the capability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations. Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred but not required. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Eligibility to work in the United States.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Possess a current California Guard Card License.
A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record for 3 years is required.
Reliable transportation is necessary.
Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus.
Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively.
Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures while being open to performance improvement.
Possess a clear understanding of emergency response procedures and protocols.
At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Stand, Walk or Sit for Extended Periods: Ability to sit while driving a vehicle, stand or walk for long periods, often for several hours at a time, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces, without significant physical strain.
Climb Stairs: Regularly climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings to perform patrols and check all areas.
Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment, and assist with other duties as necessary.
Physical Endurance: Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols, including hot, cold, rainy, or windy weather.
Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and operate security equipment, such as radios, keys, and locks.
Run or Move Quickly: Ability to sprint short distances if needed to respond quickly to emergencies or incidents.
Physical Stamina: Capable of working long hours while remaining alert and focused throughout the shift. De-escalate stressful situations with professionalism and patience.
Kneeling and Bending: Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend to check low-level areas, secure entrances, or assist in emergencies.
Vision and Hearing: Strong vision and hearing to observe surroundings, monitor security systems, and detect alarms or sounds of distress.

Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Use manual dexterity to operate security equipment such as radios, keys, and locks efficiently.
Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds to assist with security tasks or emergencies.
Secure heavy items or assist with moving necessary supplies as part of the role.
Utilize strong vision and hearing abilities to monitor surroundings, identify potential security threats, and detect alarms or sounds of distress.
De-escalate stressful or potentially volatile situations with professionalism, patience, and effective communication skills.
Maintain focus and remain alert throughout long shifts, ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
Assist in evacuations or other emergency responses, utilizing physical stamina and agility to support individuals in need.
Keep accurate and detailed activity logs, documenting all patrols, incidents, and observations during the shift.
Prepare comprehensive reports for any incidents ensuring records are clear and precise for review.
Uphold a professional and positive demeanor at all times, representing the company and its clients with integrity and respect.
Adhere to legal standards, company policies, and client-specific protocols.
Maintain grooming and uniform standards consistently to project a polished and authoritative presence.
