In partnership with the Uptown Downtown Oakland Community Benefit Districts, Barbier Security Group is hiring an experienced Security Ambassador Supervisor. Our clients are committed to revitalizing Oakland’s historic downtown by maintaining cleanliness and order in the public rights-of-way, promoting district identity, building community, promoting business attraction, fostering cultural opportunities, and creating and maintaining new public spaces as well as advocating on behalf of the district stakeholders. Position Summary A Security Ambassador Supervisor for Barbier Security Group provides a wide variety of essential services to the Uptown Downtown Oakland Community Benefit Districts. As a Security Ambassador Supervisor, your duties will be varied; however, the ideal candidate will demonstrate interpersonal skills that contribute to delivery of an exceptional client and community experience. Position Description Security Ambassador Supervisors play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the activities of Security Ambassadors, ensuring proper deployment and coverage across designated areas. Additionally, Security Ambassador Supervisors conduct regular assessments of security protocols, provide training to new hires, and handle escalated situations with tact and professionalism. They act as liaisons between Barbier Security Group, the Uptown Downtown Oakland Community Benefit Districts, and local law enforcement agencies, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to address security concerns. Furthermore, Security Ambassador Supervisors may be responsible for generating reports, documenting incidents, and implementing strategies to enhance overall security measures within the districts. Their leadership and proactive approach will contribute significantly to fostering a sense of safety and community cohesion within the downtown environment. Shift: Swing 6pm-2:30am (Wednesday-Sunday) with availability for Monday and Tuesday special events. Hourly Rate: $36.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess a current California Guard Card License.
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record for 3 years is required.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
  • Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively.
  • Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures while being open to performance improvement.
  • Possess a clear understanding of emergency response procedures and protocols.
  • At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • Stand, Walk or Sit for Extended Periods : Ability to sit while driving a vehicle, stand or walk for long periods, often for several hours at a time, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces, without significant physical strain.
  • Climb Stairs : Regularly climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings to perform patrols and check all areas.
  • Lift and Carry : Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment, and assist with other duties as necessary.
  • Physical Endurance : Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols, including hot, cold, rainy, or windy weather.
  • Manual Dexterity : Ability to handle and operate security equipment, such as radios, keys, and locks.
  • Run or Move Quickly : Ability to sprint short distances if needed to respond quickly to emergencies or incidents.
  • Physical Stamina : Capable of working long hours while remaining alert and focused throughout the shift.
  • De-escalate stressful situations with professionalism and patience.
  • Kneeling and Bending : Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend to check low-level areas, secure entrances, or assist in emergencies.
  • Vision and Hearing : Strong vision and hearing to observe surroundings, monitor security systems, and detect alarms or sounds of distress.
