About The Position

Marathon Petroleum is seeking a Security Specialist to help safeguard its people, assets, and operations. The role focuses on foresight, preparation, leadership, risk assessment, proactive security measures, and enterprise-wide resilience. It oversees physical security operations for corporate offices, including access control, surveillance systems, and emergency response planning. The position also supports employee security awareness, regulatory compliance, cross-functional coordination, and incident investigations. Travel of up to 35% is required. The position is part of a job progression, and the final title and pay grade will depend on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications. The role is located in Houston, Texas.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 4 years of experience in law enforcement, the military, or the security field.
Strong understanding of practices associated with protecting property and individuals.
In-depth knowledge of the risk assessment process.
In-depth knowledge of security incident prevention strategies and management.
Competence in major security regulatory compliance programs.
In-depth knowledge of investigative interviewing and fact-finding processes, and conceptual understanding of Code of Conduct investigation processes.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy appropriate to the situation.
Ability to maintain effective work relationships with colleagues at all levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Oversee physical security operations for corporate offices, including access control, surveillance systems, and emergency response planning.
Identify vulnerabilities, evaluate threats, and implement mitigation strategies to protect people and assets.
Develop and lead security awareness programs to educate employees on safety protocols and incident prevention.
Work with business units, HR, and leadership to align security practices with organizational goals.
Maintain adherence to regulatory requirements and internal security policies.
Assist with fact-finding and incident reviews using investigative best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel up to 35%.
