About The Position

Nationwide IT Services (NIS) provides cybersecurity, cloud engineering, software development, IT modernization, and mission support services across the Federal Government. NIS is seeking two motivated Junior Security Specialists to support cybersecurity operations for the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). These positions provide an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals supporting one of the Department of Justice's enterprise cybersecurity programs. The Junior Security Specialist supports enterprise cybersecurity operations through vulnerability management, security monitoring, incident response, documentation, and continuous monitoring activities. Working under the direction of the Cybersecurity Lead Incident Response Coordinator, the successful candidate will assist with identifying, analyzing, documenting, and remediating cybersecurity risks while supporting the daily operation of the organization's cybersecurity program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–3 years of vulnerability scanning, remediation, and incident-response experience.
  • Experience using enterprise vulnerability management tools.
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms and cybersecurity monitoring.
  • Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity principles and Federal cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOJ Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor enterprise cybersecurity tools and dashboards.
  • Review security alerts and investigate suspicious activity.
  • Assist with cybersecurity incident investigations.
  • Support vulnerability scanning activities.
  • Track vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Validate remediation activities.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results.
  • Support security assessments.
  • Assist in preparing cybersecurity documentation.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Update incident tickets and security records.
  • Support cybersecurity reporting and metrics.
  • Participate in continuous monitoring activities.
  • Support cybersecurity compliance initiatives.
  • Coordinate with system owners regarding vulnerability remediation.
  • Perform additional cybersecurity duties as assigned.
