About The Position

The Security Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Racing Security Department. This role involves coordinating the training of department personnel, managing schedules, overseeing all departmental staff, and assuming command of the Racing Security Department in the absence of the Security Manager. The Security Supervisor ensures Security Officers are properly trained, certified, and current for all aspects of their job duties through ongoing instruction and program management. They must adhere to all Indiana Horse Racing Commission regulations and promote an outgoing, friendly, customer-oriented personality at all times. This position provides basic security coverage, ensuring adequate protection for the safety and assets of patrons, Team Members, vendors, and the company. The Security Supervisor must attend meetings and be available for on-call situations as needed. They may also perform multiple Security Staff functions if required, in coordination with guidelines set by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, in areas such as Alcohol Testing, Barn Walker, Back Gate, Front Paddock, Grandstands, Stable Gate, OTB Post, Paddock, Parking Control, Test Barn, Escort Assignment, Veterinarian Escort, and Winners Circle. Additionally, the role involves fostering a fun environment, being gracious to guests and co-workers, promoting a positive influence in the community, participating in company-sponsored events, enthusiastically supporting and promoting superior customer service, ensuring compliance with established standards for behavior and appearance, and maintaining a professional work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Outstanding planning skills.
  • Outstanding documentation skills.
  • Ability to handle customer inquiries on behalf of the Security Department.
  • Excellent computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft software products such as Word, Excel and Project.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, lift, grip tools, and utilize a computer without limitation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic work environment.
  • Hold a Valid Motor Vehicle License with a good driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.
  • Must be capable of CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification.
  • Must be capable of Indiana Horse Racing Commission licensure.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand/ walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy, smoked filled, with close quarters, and hot or cold in excessive weather conditions; depending on your work area.
