About The Position

Under general supervision of the Security Manager, oversees the security officers and ensures the safety and protection of casino patrons, employees, and assets in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of security experience.
  • Casino experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of security operations, principles and practices including investigation, patrol, communications, records, community/public relations, and crime prevention.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other law enforcement/regulatory agencies, departmental staff, tribal officials, and the public.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, complete and legible reports and present detailed, accurate and objective oral presentations and response to questions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with other individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to make intelligent and effective decisions in routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR, AED, TIPS and First Aid certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • No felony, theft or stealing convictions.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.
  • Tribal preference.
  • Three years of security experience.

  • Knowledge of tribal, federal, and state gaming, criminal, traffic, and civil code and laws.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees security team and improves staff effectiveness by counseling, training and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
  • Ensures security reports and logs are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Conducts and oversees security briefings and meetings.
  • Implements and participates in staff development and training programs.
  • Assists security investigators and staff during investigations of gaming violations and other related security issues.
  • Controls emergency situations, which may include resetting alarms, evacuation and/or shutdown of building.
  • Patrols gaming floor, conducts checks for open machines, floor bank, drop doors and lot checks; identifies and reports suspicious activities to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in training and development of newly hired staff.
  • Performs all lobby duties, verifies age of patrons, opens doors, checks suspicious packages, and identifies intoxicated patrons.
  • Verifies fills, jackpot winnings and credits for accuracy; transports money, chips, tokens and markers.
  • Controls access to restricted areas; checks for and reports all safety hazards.
  • Performs inspections on a routine, daily, and monthly basis to include inspecting signs, aisles, walkways, fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
  • Assists patrons with vehicle lockouts, lost and found and safety issues.
  • Communicates with other security personnel using two-way radios according to established codes and procedures.
  • Ensures employees adhere to all gaming policies and procedures; reports any violations to appropriate personnel.
  • Conducts initial investigations by interviewing and obtaining written statements from customers/employees; completes a thorough and accurate report in a timely manner.
  • Completes and verifies gaming paperwork, departmental logs, reports and parking violations.
  • Oversees the Lost and Found program by ensuring that all items found are bagged and tagged and accounted for through written documentation.
  • Confers with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of Casino activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Ensures that all Casino employees are properly trained in Risk Management to ensure public safety.
  • Ensures that all Casino injured customers are properly taken care of and an investigation of the incident is properly documented.
  • Ensures that all criminal investigations are complete and properly documented.
  • Responsibilities include proper testing and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Authorized to address any individual not wearing an approved ID badge in non-public areas, or other persons in non-authorized areas.
