About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing security operations during a specific shift, conducting investigations, maintaining relationships with law enforcement, ensuring casino procedure integrity, and responding to emergency situations. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of related experience, and the ability to meet specific physical and vision requirements. Additional requirements apply if engaged in the Rapid Response Team, including defensive tactics and weapons qualification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two years of related experience and/or training.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, and smell.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Able to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Able to lift a 37-pound birdcage up to 36 inches in height and over a 12-inch barrier using 1 or 2 hands and then sitting it back down.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to physically defend self, patrons, and employees.
  • If engaged on Rapid Response Team: Must be able to successfully pass the annual defensive tactics course.
  • If engaged on Rapid Response Team: Must successfully qualify with all required weapons.
  • Conviction of any felony offense will be an automatic disqualification.
  • Meet suitability standards as approved by the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission (including suitability, physical/mental qualifications & weapons qualifications).
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations regarding theft, liability claims, robberies, burglaries, employee policy violations, missing and misappropriated funds, and other loss-resulting activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and fire and rescue services.
  • Participate in personnel actions involving security violations, including assistance at terminations, prosecutions, civil lawsuits, and unemployment hearings.
  • Ensure the integrity of casino procedures and prevent potential losses due to known or anticipated risks.
  • Review, approve, and sign accident reports and Security incident reports in the absence of the Security Lieutenant.
  • Serve as a first responder to emergency situations, with the ability to use armed force when justified (if part of the Rapid Response Team).
  • Pass the Rapid Response Team Basic Academy and maintain necessary certifications (if part of the RRT).
  • Report unsafe working conditions, take safety precautions, and report injuries promptly.
  • Complete all required safety training.
