The Security Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Security Department on assigned shift; provides support for other departments as needed. This role involves training, motivating, evaluating, and supervising staff to ensure employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives. The supervisor must understand department objectives, standards, guidelines, and budget to achieve effective supervision. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining training and development procedures to ensure extraordinary guest service standards are achieved, and ensuring that proper arrest procedures and detainment techniques are carried out in violations of criminal law. The role also ensures that all company and departmental procedures are followed, and assists various local, state and federal authorities in various activities and investigations. Maintaining current information on local criminal activity is crucial for the protection of company assets, guests, and team members, and developing and maintaining communications with law enforcement agencies and security personnel of other casinos is also a key responsibility. The Security Shift Supervisor resolves guest complaints, provides support to departmental management in sensitive situations, and is responsible for transportation of drug/alcohol testing. They conduct training classes on various topics and act as the On-Scene Leader for life safety emergencies, reporting to the Security Manager. Support is provided to other departments to ensure proper procedures are implemented and maintained, and a high level of awareness regarding criminal and civil laws is maintained. The role requires preparing complete and accurate reports to keep management informed of security-related incidents.
