About The Position

The Security Service Apprentice Technician assists with the service and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. This role is for individuals enrolled in Pye-Barker’s formal and registered apprentice program who are developing technical skills in the fire and life safety industry. Work is performed under supervision with structured training and development milestones. This level designation remains in place for the full duration of participation in the registered apprenticeship program, regardless of business title.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be enrolled in Pye-Barker’s formal and registered apprentice program.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work effectively in team environments.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous exposure to low-voltage systems, construction, electrical work, or technical trade environments preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of security systems, electronics, or networking is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with service, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
  • Support installation and testing of new and existing security system components.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
  • Help perform system inspections and basic functional testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, materials used, and job site conditions.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, customer site requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean and proper working condition.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
